What is the first book that made you cry?

Wow, this one has a two-part answer: “Are You My Mother?” By Dr. Sues and as I got older, I read “Where the Red Fern Grows” by Wilson Rawls.  Needless to say, animals get to me.

What common traps to aspiring writers fall into?
